Dear
Transformation Drawing
Over the course of 5 weeks, I transformed this drawing. A new layer covered approximately 90% from the previous week, creating an entirely new drawing. The beginning drawing started out with a gray wash, next tracing paper, newspaper, and paper towels were gesso'd on top and 2 strands of pink ribbon glued to the top. The entire piece was then lightly sprayed with a red spray paint to create a soft pink color. Next I applied tape over the piece and spray painted it black. After taking the tape off, left tunderneath you could see the soft pink coming through. In the next transformation, the drawing was gesso'd over in white once again and red spray paint was appliedoing primarily in the center and lightly as you moved out. This made an emphasis on the lines already created. Lastly, I printed out copies of letters I have written over the past 3 years. I dyed these letters in tea and glued them on top of eachother starting with the oldest letters and the newest letters on top. The last two letters I wrote I dyed in a mix of black berries and raspberries to create a lavender color. The end result shows the layers that a person builds within themselves. The beginning showed the darkness that we all have in our own way, then adding layers to the individual person in the weeks that followed. Finally showing the thoughts we carry and share with those we find trustworthy and love for.
